Ashley Thompson - Club President and Premier League Women’s Coach

Ashley is a highly experienced hockey coach with a strong commitment to player development and building competitive, connected teams.

A multiple-premiership-winning coach and former captain within North East’s men’s program, Ashley has coached more than 150 Premier League matches across nine seasons with the Premier League Women.

He was named the 2014 Premier League Women’s Coach of the Year.

After returning to the Premier League program in 2025, Ashley guided the women to a narrow preliminary-final finish and helped re-establish the team as a genuine top-level contender.

With strong foundations in place, the program is focused on taking the next step towards premiership success.
